Remember remember the 5th of November, gunpowder, treason and plot

In 1605 a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament and assassinate King James I was foiled at the last minute.  Those responsible that were caught met a very grisly end, the most well known (though not leader) being Guy Fawkes.

So every year in the UK we ‘celebrate’ the occasion with big bonfires and firework parties.  This is my version.  LIGHT THE FIRE!

  1. Forgot about Guy Fawkes night. Not much happens down here, thank the gods, but there are the occasional firecrackers. Must remember to get the cast and dogs in early… just in case. Bobbi goes a bit spare with loud bangs.

I was told once (and I believe it~!) that Guy Fawkes was the only man ever to enter Parliament with truly altruistic intentions.

  3. Another non-US holiday I probably should read up on – familiar with Guy from various shows ,but assuredly sensationalized. Might just be the camera angle, but always amazed seeing people nonchalantly standing by a rocket on wheels spewing massive flames out the back. Clearly more confident than I would be!

    1. Guy Fawkes was keeping guard on the explosives when he got caught, he was only a bit player but got rather a ‘special’ execution (I’ll let you read up on it).
I guess the crew and track marshalls get used to the flames, they must hit the afterburners about twenty times in the warm up, it’s a pretty good show.
